Chasing Joy in Chicago: A Whirlwind 2-Day Adventure I Couldn’t Wait to Take

I’ve been dreaming about this for a while now, and it’s finally happening—a one-night, two-day trip to Chicago! Just thinking about it makes me giddy. There’s something so thrilling about planning a quick getaway, especially when the destination is packed with so much energy, flavor, and fun. Even though it’s a short trip, the possibilities feel endless, and I can’t wait to experience it all.

The City, the Buzz, the Vibe

Chicago has always been on my list—not just because of the famous skyline or the deep-dish pizza (though let’s be real, that’s a major draw), but because this city feels alive. There’s something magnetic about it. I keep imagining that first moment stepping into the heart of downtown, surrounded by tall buildings and the buzz of people moving with purpose, laughter floating through the air, and the wind coming off the lake just enough to make you feel awake.

I can already picture myself walking through the streets, completely in awe—camera in one hand, coffee in the other, trying to soak in everything without missing a beat.

Millennium Park – My Must-See Spot

One place I’m especially excited for is Millennium Park. I’ve seen so many photos of “The Bean” online, but I know nothing compares to seeing it in person. I can already imagine myself standing under it, laughing at my reflection from a dozen different angles, maybe snapping way too many photos but not even caring.

Beyond that, I’m looking forward to just being there—sitting on the grass, people-watching, maybe catching live music or just breathing in the moment. There’s something about parks in big cities that makes you feel small in the best way—like you’re part of something bigger, even if only for a little while.

Giordano’s – The Pizza Dreams Are Real

Okay, let’s talk about the pizza—because this has honestly been fueling my excitement the most. I’ve heard so much about Giordano’s, and I’ve practically been counting down the days until I can finally try that famous deep-dish slice. The thought of biting into all that gooey cheese, rich tomato sauce, and buttery crust? Pure joy.

I already know I’m going to eat way too much, but I’m not even pretending to feel guilty about it. It’s part of the Chicago experience, and I’m so ready to taste it for myself. I just know this is going to be one of those meals I remember forever.

The Museum of Ice Cream – Yes, I’m Going to Play

And as if the trip couldn’t get sweeter—I’m going to the Museum of Ice Cream! I’ve seen it online, and it looks like a dream: giant sprinkle pools, wild flavors, pink everything, and more joy than any place has a right to contain. It’s like stepping into a fantasy world where everything is colorful, fun, and meant to be touched, tasted, and enjoyed.

This isn’t just for kids—this is for anyone who wants to let loose, take a million pictures, and laugh like they haven’t in a while. I’m so excited to jump into the experience, spoon in hand and heart wide open.

The Excitement of What’s to Come

More than anything, I’m excited for the feeling of it all—those little unexpected moments that only come when you’re somewhere new. Maybe I’ll meet someone interesting. Maybe I’ll discover a hidden bookstore or stumble across street musicians that stop me in my tracks. Maybe I’ll just sit by the water and feel totally content. That’s the best part of traveling—the surprises.

This may be a short trip, but I have a feeling it’ll leave a long-lasting impression.

Chicago, here I come.

With open eyes, an empty stomach, and a heart full of anticipation—I’m ready to make memories, one slice, one scoop, and one moment at a time.

Later this summer I’m hoping to go back, but this time for a shopping spree!
